Your Life
By the river
Leisure and lifestyle on your doorstep
Situated on the mighty Waikato River and incorporating two picturesque feature lakes, Te Awa Lakes will offer a unique blend of natural beauty and recreation options.
The river and surrounding natural environment play a big role, providing opportunities for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and jet ski-ing. Te Awa River Ride is an established attraction, that runs right beside our boundary, for those who want a leisurely ride or full-on exercise.
Others will prefer more sedate ways to relax by the river, such as meeting up with friends, enjoying family picnics, or having a quiet beer at the waterfront gastro pub.
Away from the water, innovative new attractions will also encourage visitors to the region, while providing locals with plenty of options for active leisure and exercise. The proposed indoor/outdoor recreational zone and adventure activities will bring excitement to grown-ups and magic to children, attracting locals and tourists alike.
Whether you live at Te Awa Lakes, or you’re a visitor, there’s no need to hurry. After a busy day on the water or bike, relax at one of many cafes, bars, and restaurants in Te Awa Lakes.
